The first Garfield wasn’t exactly Inception, and Garfield 2 isn’t raising the bar. It’s a little bit of talking-animals fun, with Billy Connolly doing his best John Cleese impression. I liked Tim Curry’s wacky nasal voice as Prince, but the film really needed more Jennifer Love Hewitt.
The storyline is kind of bizarre, because there is lots of potential but nothing actually happens. There are no moral lessons for the world’s laziest cat, no “there’s no place like home” monologues, no fights between Jon and Liz, and no intricate scheme to defeat the villain.
