Kung Fu Panda

I’m really not a huge fan of CGI movies, and the appropriation of Asian martial arts movie tropes wasn’t especially appealing; however I ended up watching Kung Fu Panda.

It felt quite bizarre watching a pastiche film with anthromorphic animals when I could easily see (and had recently seen) the real thing. It was a lot shorter than I expected, and despite the protestations of the A-grade Hollywood cast in the making-of clips, many of the characters received perfunctory characterisations and little screen time.

The fight for the dumplings was well done, and I did like the villain’s backstory and the contents of the secret scroll.
