The Blind Side

This is another one of those you-know-what-you’re-getting films, a feel-good sports-related movie about a rich family helping a poor but good-natured boy with sports talent.

There’s not too much unexpected here, other than it being based on a true story. Sandra Bullock puts in a good performance as the tough pistol-packing mother – I suppose the fairly positive view of religious Republican-voting Southerners might be unusual. There’s a very brief action scene that felt more significant because it was almost out-of-place, but ultimately things turn out all right.
