I was keen to see this acclaimed artsy film despite a friend’s clumsy recommendation that made it sound like a creepy movie about the exchange of sexual favours in a dance troupe.
It was a pretty good movie, with fairly clear symbolism and allusions to the Swan Lake story, though I disliked Aronofsky’s fixation on physical injury and his overuse of CGI. Portman was excellent, her relationship with her overbearing mother powerful, Cassel was suitably creepy/ambivalent, and I found Kunis’s character very likeable.
