Reblog: All the Single Ladies

An extremely interesting article (though loooong) on problematic trends in modern relationships. While the author suffers a bit from blindspots (she dumped a good long-term relationship for no reason and complains about unreliable men) and her alternative relationship models are somewhat unrealistic (polygamy, matrilineal agrarian culture, monastic communes), she draws from a wide variety of sources (evolutionary biology, anthropology, historical sociological research, nuns, relationship bloggers, social psychologists), and (unlike many other feminist writers) is extremely open-minded, non-defensive, and willing to engage with research and other views.

Comments have drawn parallels between the relationship-eschewing “men going their own way” (“MGTOW”) movement and the generation of “herbivorous” males in Japan.
