I’m more interested in movie-making than cars, so I was very interested by an article that described how Fast Five was trying to pivot the franchise from a series about cars to a series about heists. Everyone wants a franchise nowadays, but they also want the right franchise.
Perhaps this worked because I quite enjoyed Fast Five, at least as much as any other movie in the franchise, probably more (it’s been a while). I’m still annoyed by how Justin Lin saw fit to deal with Sung Kang’s character in the third movie, creating weird chronological limitations. I think there were 3 or 4 too many characters but the movie was pretty entertaining.
