This creature classic is now 37 years old, and fun all the same. It leaves out the self-referentialism of modern successors and the malnourished adherence to what is now formula: Jaws appears very late in the movie, there are only a few deaths, a decent amount of effort is put into characterisation, the drama is relatively muted, and the final battle is quite a drawn-out strategic affair.

I liked the measured pace of the movie, and the red herrings thrown by the plot. There is actually quite a bit of gore for an almost 40-year-old-movie.
