Monsters University

I’m negatively predisposed to modern CGI flicks (I don’t like the character design, the textures and colouring, and that they’re pitched at kids) and Monsters University never escapes that pit. It retcons Mike and Sully’s past history and places them at university, where they attempt to impress both the cool kids and the dean, and hammer at themes of hard work versus privilege, and being popular versus being accepting.

I found it cloying and too predictable, and though there were some moments of visual inventiveness (the underwater classes, the librarian, and the dean’s entrance) it never hooked me.
